pH Neutralization

Meet discharge standards with the optimal mix of technologies to address your acidic waste stream.

Metered caustic additions, Software tracks performance, Solids removal options

How it works.

Options to address your one-of-a-kind operation: microfiltration to remove suspended solids, sludge thickener tank for further settling, filter press to dewater sludge, and/or a sampling station before sewer discharge.

Below are just three examples of our capabilities.

What’s best for you?

Continuous Batch.

Neutralizes and filters an acidic waste solution containing solids.

First, your waste solution enters the Mixer Tank.

The Mixer Tank utilizes pH monitors to activate the metering pump, always delivering the exact amount of caustic NaOH to neutralize the incoming, acidic solution.

The Neutralized Waste Tank further adjusts the pH as necessary. When the proper pH is reached and the tank reaches the setpoint level, the pump will discharge the neutralized solution.

The Sampling Station activates when the pH of the neutralized waste tank is within the required pH range. A small pump inside the Station obtains a sample from the tank and delivers it to a small storage jug. When the storage jug is full it is collected for testing by the sanitary authority.

Neutralization & Filtration.

A batch system that neutralizes and filters an acidic waste solution containing solids.

The first two tanks use pH monitors to activate the metering pumps, delivering the exact amount of caustic NaOH to neutralize the incoming, acidic solution.

An oxidizing agent added to the Neutralized Waste Tank begins creating insoluble solids.

The centrifugal pump feeding the Microfilters drives the slurry through a semi-porous plastic membrane. An increasing concentration of suspended solids flows through the middle of the membrane tube as the solids-free water permeates the membrane and exits the process. A Sampling Station may be added to record discharge statistics.

The Microfilter array is automatically backwashed every 15 – 20 minutes to maintain excellent permeate flow. Over time, as the permeate flow subsides, the microfilters go through a cleaning cycle.

Once the suspended solids (metal hydroxides) in the Neutralized Waste Tank have built up to between 3 and 5% TSS, they are pumped through a Filter Press for solids removal as a hard cake.

Continuous Neutralization.

This continuous system neutralizes and filters an acidic waste solution containing solids.

The waste solution enters the Neutralization Tank first, where the pH can be adjusted.

Next, the pH adjusted waste stream is pumped into the Polymer Blend Tank, where polymer is added.

In the Lamella, the treated, clarified waste water (effluent) is discharged and the metal hydroxides settle to the bottom.

Sludge is pumped to the Sludge Thickener Tank and dewatered in the Filter Press which compresses the sludge into a cake.
